We get on a Mac and use Logic Pro and make hits. This piece is rugged and street but ambient at the same time.

Shouts to Henry! This will be available for everyone to free play on. We are planning on just freestyle over playing on this. Yeah it pretty much kicks butt in every sense. Our piece is a sample of a viola thrown down 12 notches and made it sound like an acoustic bass. This class has affected how I play my instrument because I don’t always have to play classical music. This class has affected my thinking on music in a way that allows me to realize I can do so much work with music besides playing just sheet music.

We use a program called Logic Pro to make beats and we can record ourselves playing our instrument and sync it with the beat. If I was to describe this class to a friend I would tell them that this class is dead bangin’. At first, the recording didn’t match up with each other so we altered the recording to sync with the beat. After we made the beat with the keyboard, we added the recording of ourselves. The keyboard we used could be used to sound like a drum or a violin or anything else. In our piece we recorded ourselves playing our instruments and then put the recording on the computer. I partnered up with Josh to work on a piece.

So now when I listen to music, I wonder why the musician chose to do that. When I made a song, everything had a reason. I learned how much work it actually takes to make a song. I love music so much but in a sense I feel so much closer to it now. Media Lab provides us with the chance to be very creative without the fear of being judged. This class made me appreciate music a lot. I would tell my friends that I had a lot of fun in this class while also learning so much. Then I added different tracks to it and and made them loud or soft. For my piece, first I put the Bond theme in and I made some parts loud or soft. I used to not be interested in making music but now I am. We go on Logic Pro and put music on the tracks. When I mixed my song up, I added more things and took some parts out. Sometimes songs come with feelings and mix my head up. I tried to play a piece of playing – it went good but I thought about it and changed my mind. Then I put voices in to make it sound better – louder and cooler and amazing. To make this piece, I listened to a couple songs and thought about it and I tried some new beats and found a beat that goes with the song. There’s one guy who has a sugar rush (if you eat too much sugar you go crazy on the dance floor). The DJ says, “Pump it up!” and the crowd dances a lot. It feels like 2000 people on the dance floor. How has this class affected they way you play/study your instrument? How has this class affected the way you think about music?Ĥ. If you were telling a friend about this class, how would you describe it?ģ. How would you like to introduce your piece?Ģ. We did some final work on mixing and mastering, and also reflected on what we did over the last six weeks together by writing and talking about these questions:ġ.
